Review the business card for completeness before putting in your pocket
When you pick up or are handed a business card–say, at a business networking event–quickly review it to see that it contains all the contact information. Newer employees might not have their own cards yet, so they’ll use a generic one and write their names on it. They may not provide an email address.
Verify that the card includes all contact information before the person walks away. If the card is missing any information (normally the email address), you need to dig that up. This video gives you some suggestions for doing that.
Just remember: The next time you attend a networking event, take a few seconds to review the business card before sticking it in your pocket. That will save you some work later.
