Reply to all legitimate messages, and do so thoroughly

Ideally, respond the same day to your messages. If not, at least within one business day. Meantime, you can let the person know you received the message and are working on it.

Read each message thoroughly before responding. This may require two or three readings. Take your time to formulate your response, and make sure you address all questions or comments included. Sometimes in our haste to reply, we overlook a question that is buried in the message. That is irritating for the sender, and requires him or her to contact you again. A careful reading of the message will provide you a full understanding of what the person is asking.

Do you have any further advice? Care to share some of your email stories (good or bad)? Feel free to comment below. If you found value in this post, could you do me a favor and share it with others? Thanks!
